Good morning, Lee's Summit.

Five distinguished alumni (Mark Dunning, Class of 1989; Chad Hertzog, Class of 1998; Amy Knopps, Class of 1997; Susie Ritter Newsam, Class of 1974; and Julia Rygaard, Class of 1988) will be inducted into the Lee’s Summit High School Hall of Fame on April 19 at the school.

The banquet will start at 6 p.m. and costs $35 per person with reservations required by mail or drop-off at the school.

A huge fire at a nursing home in Yates Center began Friday and is pushing thick smoke into Kansas City — reducing visibility to three miles and causing unhealthy air quality.

Fire crews are on scene and the National Weather Service expects winds from the west to clear the smoke and improve conditions later.

Residents in Westwood will vote in April on a measure that instructs them to vote against proposals that could lead to changes at Joe Dennis Park—officials say the decision will determine if the park remains as it is.
