Good morning, Lee's Summit. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 2nd of April.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Jackson County voters will decide on April 8 if Ronald McDonald House can buy Longfellow Park— a 3.42-acre park on Gillham Road— to expand its campus that offers free housing and support to families with children undergoing hospital treatment. A 'yes' vote will allow the charity to add 40 new bedrooms while keeping the park’s walking path and green space for public use.  KCTV5
  • Monday's court ruling in Jackson County may offer tax relief for homeowners after years of disputed property assessments and affect school districts that depend on tax revenue. New assessment notices for 2025 are scheduled for May or June — local resident Preston Smith urged the county to accept the decision — so the issue can move forward.  KMBC
