EDUCATION NEWS

➤ Voters on Tuesday approved a $225M bond measure to improve schools in the Lee's Summit R-7 district. The bond will fund new classroom construction, building renovations and security upgrades — including new elementary school projects, a sixth-grade addition and an Aerospace Academy classroom — while also addressing athletic field and maintenance needs. ➤ Jackson County legislators passed an ordinance directing administration to lower certain assessments — officials plan to adjust tax values to ease the financial impact on residents. KCTV5
➤ Jackson County residents signed petitions to recall Executive Frank White as nonprofit Democracy In Action raised over $180,000 to fund the campaign—its executive said one agency held thousands of signatures until payment was made. The recall requires collecting signatures equal to 25% of registered voters within 60 days and approval by the county legislature before a public election that may cost about $1 million is scheduled.
