CRIME NEWS

➤ Police took a person of interest into custody on April 10 in Lee’s Summit in connection with a double homicide after a 5 a.m. welfare check led them to a home near NE Todd George and NE Langford Rd—where two adults were found deceased and a 17-year-old son was confirmed safe. KCTV5

EDUCATION NEWS

➤ Lee’s Summit students Ella Nelson (University of Central Missouri) and Nicole R. Jones (Missouri State University) were elected to membership in Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society. The honor, reserved for students with high academic achievement, places them among approximately 20,000 inductees each year. Lee's Summit Tribune
➤ On April 10, the Urban League of Greater Kansas City said it was disappointed when Oracle stopped a $10,000 scholarship commitment that affected five seniors and announced an urgent fundraising campaign to deliver the promised funds. Oracle maintained that it remains committed to funding the scholarships as the community awaits further clarification. KCTV5
