  • Metropolitan Community College will host its 17th annual Flights of Fancy Mega-Kite Festival this Sunday, April 27, from noon to 5 p.m. at the MCC-Longview campus at 500 S.W. Longview Road in Lee's Summit—attendees will see giant, power, and stunt kites along with inflatable games, face painting, food trucks, and ample parking.  Lee's Summit Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Missouri State Tax Commission issued an order Tuesday requiring Jackson County officials to roll back 2023 property assessments before 2025 evaluations begin—citing a March 31 court ruling that found the county did not follow proper legal procedures. County leaders set a cap of 15% above corrected 2024 values on future assessments while County Executive Frank White reviews the ordinance.  KMBC
