- ➤ Briggs & Stratton will lay off 90 workers starting July 2 due to a permanent closure at its Billy Goat plants, according to a state WARN listing. Job losses will affect employees at 1803 Southwest Jefferson St. and 1825 Southwest Market St. KMBC
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Investigators are searching for Amber K. Harmann, 34, of Blue Springs, charged with child abduction after a Missouri child was reported missing on April 22 and last seen in December—her phone showed she was in Texas before it was turned off and a warrant was issued requiring a $10,000 bond and no contact with the victim. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Healing Action Network in St. Louis reported it lost $250,000 in grant money and stopped taking new victims after its AmeriCorps funding was cut following a Friday evening notification. Statewide cuts terminated 200 AmeriCorps members in Missouri & affected 632 in Illinois, leaving officials concerned about reduced services for vulnerable community members. KCTV5
