EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ More than 80 students at UCM completed certificate courses this spring at the Missouri Innovation Campus in Lee’s Summit — programs in clinical medical assisting, medical billing, and hazmat safety among them — and their achievements were honored by the workforce program. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Missouri House passed a bill Tuesday to use tax money for new stadium projects to help keep the Chiefs and Royals in state with a clause that makes teams repay all funds if they leave — some lawmakers say the plan was rushed. The Senate will review the measure before the session ends Friday and parts of the plan may need local voter approval. KMBC
- ➤ Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe announced that former governor and U.S. senator Christopher S. (Kit) Bond died on May 13th at 86. Bond served as governor (1973 to 1977 and 1981 to 1985) before his Senate career, and flags will be flown at half-staff until he is laid to rest. KMBC
