CRIME NEWS

  • Officer Jared Timbrook, who was shot four times on June 1 while pursuing a suspect, was released from the hospital on June 3 — he now recovers at home with the support of the Lee’s Summit community.  Lee's Summit Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tickets for the first Historic Lee’s Summit Trolley Tour are on sale now for an event set for July 17th that will include a guide and stops around town, require riders to be 18 or older, and cost $100—tickets are available on the museum website or at 220 SW Main Street on Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Lee’s Summit History Museum will also honor the 150th anniversary of the Lee’s Summit Fire Department by giving active firefighters free admission in June and displaying a temporary exhibit.  Lee's Summit Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Drury University announced its spring dean's list for students who earned a 3.6 GPA or higher while taking a full-time course load (12 or more semester hours). The list includes local high school students from Lee's Summit West and Lee's Summit Senior High Schools along with students from other regional schools.  Lee's Summit Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Missouri State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick filed a petition in Jackson County Circuit Court to enforce subpoenas for Mobile Assessor data needed for the ongoing 2023 property audit, which has been delayed by repeated data request issues. The audit—initiated after a formal request from the Jackson County Legislature—is reviewing whether required physical inspections were conducted.  KMBC
