CRIME NEWS

  • Nine people including eight juveniles and one adult—were arrested after fights erupted among hundreds of teens at a carnival outside Independence Center mall Saturday night—when officers from several agencies responded after mall security closed the event early as shots were fired, though no injuries occurred.  KMBC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Reorganized School District No. 7 Board of Education meeting will be held on June 26 at 7:00 p.m.—the public is invited to attend the live-streamed session and must email Linda Ismert by June 25 at 4 p.m. to provide comments.  Lee's Summit Tribune
  • Summit Christian Academy honored four theatre students at the KC Cappies Gala held May 24 (historic Folly Theatre), where Addison Davies and Victor Nichols received the Cappies Award for Creativity and Emma Coats with George Hoelzel were named Director’s Commendees for their contributions to the drama program.  Lee's Summit Tribune
