- ➤ Monday at 1:15 p.m., the Lee’s Summit Fire Department said a wind-driven fire on the 200 block of SE Brownfield Drive forced residents to evacuate a single-story home; the flames spread from the attached deck into the interior and were controlled by 1:32 p.m.—officials believe a cooking appliance caused the fire. - ➤ Lee's Summit man Gregory W. Boyd, 66, faces up to 15 years in prison after he was charged with first-degree assault for allegedly attempting to suffocate a woman around 8:25 p.m. on Thursday while on probation for a previous domestic assault case—Boyd remains in custody on a $30,000 bond following his initial court appearance on Monday.
