EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Reorganized School District No. 7 Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Thursday, July 31 at 7:00 p.m.—the meeting will be live streamed and those wishing to comment must email [email protected] by Wednesday, July 30 at 4:00 p.m.  Lee's Summit Tribune
  • Reorganized School District No. 7’s Finance Committee will meet via Zoom today at 8:00 a.m.—the meeting will review contracts, bond closeouts, and other financial issues and is open to the public via the district YouTube channel.  Lee's Summit Tribune

  • Lee's Summit leaders honored Deputy Elijah Ming on July 27 for his dedicated service and commitment to public safety. The ceremony celebrated his legacy—local officials recalled the positive impact of his work.  KCTV5
  • Funding cuts passed by Congress are threatening nonprofit newsrooms across Kansas and Missouri as many stations, including KCUR, face a 13% budget drop. Lisa Rodriguez of Kansas City NPR warned that these cuts may force stations into emergency fundraising to cover a potential loss of nearly half a million dollars — a risk that could reduce critical local news coverage.  KMBC
