- ➤ County Executive Frank White vetoed a senior property tax credit ordinance on July 10; lawmakers overrode his veto on July 17 to extend the deadline for seniors. White said the Legislature is reconsidering the measure — he invited seniors and advocates to speak at the 3 p.m. meeting on Aug. 4 at the Jackson County Courthouse Legislative Chambers. KMBC
- ➤ Missouri state Sen. Michael Moon, state Rep. Bryant Wolfin and citizen activist Ron Calzone filed a lawsuit against the state over Senate Bill 3—which contains the Show-Me Sports Investment Act—and argue that the bill was rushed and breaks the rules by funding private stadium projects for the Chiefs and Royals. They ask for the bill to be declared unconstitutional or stopped before it takes effect on Aug. 28. KMBC
