  • Mayor Bill Baird previewed Green Street, a new multimillion-dollar downtown community space that will open later this week next to City Hall. The facility features a year‐round indoor farmer’s market, an inclusive playground, and event areas, and it will host a grand opening weekend with live music and festivities.  KMBC

CRIME NEWS

  • Lee’s Summit police are looking for James Franklin, 78—he was last seen two days ago leaving the Mary Williams-Neal Community Center in Kansas City with an unknown person, is missing his prescriptions and cell phone, suffers from memory issues and a severe burn on his right side that needs daily care, and authorities ask anyone who sees him to call 911.  KMBC

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Meteorologist Warren Sears walked through regions with the highest risk for flash flooding on August 10—explaining areas vulnerable to heavy rain in our region. His analysis will help local officials and residents take precautions as weather remains unsettled.  KCTV5
