GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Corbyn Barlow, an electrical Gas Turbine Systems Technician 2nd Class from Lee’s Summit, stood watch at the Electric Plant Control Console aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS John Finn in the Philippine Sea on June 26. The ship is forward-deployed as part of Destroyer Squadron 15 and serves as the U.S. 7th Fleet’s main surface force.  Lee's Summit Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • Children’s Mercy and Mercy Springfield Communities announced on Aug. 14 that they will expand pediatric care in southwest Missouri—adding new hospital services for children—and planning to roll out improved care soon. The partnership is expected to help more local families get the health services they need.  KCTV5

SPORTS NEWS

  • Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said he may sit starters including Patrick Mahomes out of tonight’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks – he also noted that tight end Jake Briningstool, wide receiver Hollywood Brown and offensive lineman Ethan Driskell will not play to give young players more reps. He added that running back Kareem Hunt will be evaluated closer to game time while he balances protecting veterans with giving emerging players a chance.  KMBC
