- ➤ Lee's Summit Police are investigating a lapse in communication after students found a loaded gun in the theater at Lee's Summit West High School on August 26— the weapon had been registered as lost on July 11 after its owner said he lost it at a grocery store, a friend's home and a school performance— and officials are now reviewing the full details. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Missouri’s top tax authority set new 2023 assessments for over 600 Jackson County homes with increases capped at no more than 15% over 2022 values for houses without new construction. The commission said county officials did not properly notify many homeowners about inspections and appeal rights—changes that follow more than 54,000 filed appeals. KMBC
