Good morning, Lee's Summit.

A Lee's Summit man is in jail after he allegedly sexually assaulted a female officer (investigating a weekend crash) and is expected to face criminal charges (police said) soon.

Missouri lawmakers begin a special session today on redistricting to consider the Missouri First Map, a proposal that would redraw the Fourth district from downtown Kansas City to Big Piney and extend the Fifth from Arrowhead to Linn County—critics say the plan dilutes Black and urban voter voices by mixing them with rural areas. Lawmakers in Jefferson City will decide whether to amend, adopt or reject the new boundaries.
