EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Southern New Hampshire University congratulated full-time undergraduate students on making the Summer 2025 Dean's List for earning GPAs between 3.500 and 3.699 during its May to August term—honorees include Matthew Norton of Kansas City, Shelby Owings of Raytown, Haley Jackson of Kansas City, and Lee’s Summit students Shawn Sivulka and Gloria Shoemaker. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Legislator Sean Smith offered a resolution Monday for Kansas City to use the full Jackson County Jail temporarily while the county moves inmates to its new facility north of I-70, but Legislature Chair DaRon McGee referred the offer to the Justice and Law Committee for further study. Kansas City currently sends municipal suspects to Vernon County or Johnson County until a permanent jail is built near the new county facility. KMBC
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Home builders in the metro area warned that new energy code mandates cost families more money and slowed permit issuance after members testified before Congress on Sept. 22—builders said the inflexible rules nearly halted new home permits and could force officials to rethink construction strategies.
