Good morning, Lee's Summit. Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 29th of September.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • KMBC9's Michael Mahoney said that early turnout in the recall election of County Executive Frank White is low in Jackson County, with fewer than 10,000 ballots cast even though over 43,000 residents signed the petition—this reflects strong voter dissatisfaction and a complex reassessment issue. The roundtable discussion examined how these factors might affect Tuesday's vote.  KMBC
  • Jackson County Executive Frank White defended his record on rising property tax assessments—some of which rose over 30%—and stalled stadium deal talks during an interview on Heart of the Matter before his recall election tomorrow. He said he followed state law while trying to help homeowners and improve county services, though his new stadium proposal has not received a response yet.  KMBC
