COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Dr. Marvin Ray Aaron, a respected educator and community leader, died peacefully surrounded by family on September 23—he taught for 40 years, including 20 as Associate Dean at Longview Community College. A memorial service will be scheduled with additional details announced later. Lee's Summit Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lee’s Summit City Council is considering ordinance changes for June 1 through July 31 that would limit fireworks displays, cap event permits to 1,000 people, and change food truck and sign rules to support WorldCup 2026 plans. The council will review the proposal at its Oct. 7 meeting to ensure the changes free up police resources for WorldCup events—officials say adjustments are needed for safety and smooth operations. - ➤ Jackson County Executive Frank White filed an appeal last week to stop today's recall election, saying the vote was set outside Missouri law guidelines. A Missouri Appeals Court rejected his appeal—absentee voting began on Sept. 16 following certification of nearly 43,000 signatures that prompted the recall. KMBC

Lee's Summit Housing Authority 2026 Annual Plan
The Lee’s Summit Housing Authority announces that beginning September 26, 2025, draft copies of the 2026 Annual Plan and 2025–2029 5-YR PHA Plan & CFP will be available for public review at 111 SE Grand Ave., Lee’s Summit, MO 64063, and online at www.hacls.org. Documents may be viewed Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–4:00 PM, for 45 days in accordance with 24 CFR 903. A public hearing is scheduled for November 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Lee Haven Community Room at the same address, where LSHA will receive and consider comments before finalizing the plans for HUD submission.
