Political science professor Dr. Abigail Vegter explained that Frank White’s latest filing in the Missouri Supreme Court may affect Jackson County’s special recall election, set for Tuesday.
Local experts have expressed concern (noting it could shift voter sentiment) about his political future.
Former Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes will be appointed interim Jackson County executive after Tuesday's recall election results are certified, with Legislative Chair DaRon McGee expected to announce her appointment at a late-morning news conference.
Barnes—who made history in 1999 as the first woman elected mayor—will take over once the certification is complete.

Lee's Summit Housing Authority 2026 Annual Plan
The Lee’s Summit Housing Authority announces that beginning September 26, 2025, draft copies of the 2026 Annual Plan and 2025–2029 5-YR PHA Plan & CFP will be available for public review at 111 SE Grand Ave., Lee’s Summit, MO 64063, and online at www.hacls.org. Documents may be viewed Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–4:00 PM, for 45 days in accordance with 24 CFR 903. A public hearing is scheduled for November 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Lee Haven Community Room at the same address, where LSHA will receive and consider comments before finalizing the plans for HUD submission.
