- ➤ Lee's Summit firefighters responded to a balcony fire on NE Akin Drive Saturday after neighbors spotted the flames and called for help—residents were evacuated and the blaze was put out, likely due to improperly disposed smoking materials in a flower pot. KMBC

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A record 739 students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln have been selected for the University Honors Program this fall, a 15% increase from 2019—two of the students are from Lee’s Summit, including Marin LaCour and Duy Nguyen.
