  • ➤ Jackson County lawmakers worked on a new plan to hire an interim executive and debated if candidates should give up running for office while 15 applicants, including Chair DaRon McGee, are in the mix. The Legislature will reconvene at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 at the county courthouse & finalize the hiring process.  KMBC
  • ➤ On Monday, October 6, lawmakers went back to Washington as the shutdown hit its sixth day while a Kansas City jury found Joshua Rocha guilty of killing officer Daniel Vasquez and police looked into the shooting that fatally hurt 16-year-old Corey Jones near Bay Water Park. Jackson County officials began choosing an interim executive after Frank White’s recall—while the Kansas City Chiefs played Monday Night Football against the Jaguars on KMBC.  KMBC
