ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Lee's Summit police said a wrong-way driver struck a westbound vehicle at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 50—just east of the MO-291 junction—before the driver was pronounced dead and a second driver was hospitalized with serious injuries. KMBC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jackson County tax records show errors for over 15,000 commercial properties because five residential parcels are wrongly used—Larry Smith and others have called the mistake a shakedown. Property owners can appeal their assessments until July 14—since the Board of Equalization is fixing a broken upload link, appeals must be emailed as PDFs. KMBC
- ➤ Jackson County Executive Frank White faces a recall petition as local election boards verified 42,671 signatures—only 231 short of the 42,902 needed.
